A Sense of Place

Having experimented with a range of materials, Jazz chose to specialise in glass; its transparency, interaction with light and colour and the contradictions of the material, soft yet hard, strong yet fragile, are the qualities that drew her to the ancient craft of heating and manipulating glass. Each firing process can be manipulated to achieve a unique, never to be repeated result.

Jazz's latest work 'A sense of Place' consists of several large pieces of glass, colourless except for the inclusion of black and white, reminiscent of an old photograph. It speaks of the connections we each have to places and people within our lives and the memories and marks they leave.

"It is an emotional piece that I hope will make others think about the sense of place and importance others have within their own lives" Jazz.
